This is a comprehensive intake session, typically lasting 60, conducted by a licensed psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. The goal is to gain a full picture of your mental health to inform diagnosis and a personalized treatment plan. What usually happens: In-depth discussion of current symptoms, when they started, how they affect daily life/work/relationships, and any triggers or patterns. Review of psychiatric history, medical history, current medications, family mental health background, substance use, and relevant life stressors or trauma. Mental status examination Collaborative discussion of potential diagnosis and next steps, which may include medication recommendations, therapy referrals, lifestyle suggestions, or further testing. By the end, you'll often leave with preliminary insights, a proposed plan, and clear follow-up instructions.
